I need to be adopted by a family with small children, just so I could play with the little ones. I want to be an "aunt." It has been a long time since I have had the fun of reading stories to children or doing crafts with them.
When my friends take their children on outings to the zoo or pumpkin patch,
I wish they would invite me.

Come be my kids' aunt. We'll make you a mum!
I'd be over in a minute if I weren't so far away. I would treasure a mum.
I would love to have you come with us everywhere!!
And, I loved your comment on my blog. Awesome!!
Hi, I came here through your linked name on a comment on Little Catholic Bubble (well, I actually came to your home page first, then saw this post linked on the side bar... but I digress.)
What I want to say is, I hope you found an aunt position. I too am a single Catholic woman (31 years) surrounded by lots of married-with-kids people and very few fellow singles. My saving grace has been my friend's fifth child, a beautiful, crazy, hilarious little thing who somehow bonded with me when she was a newborn. We're still going strong as best buds now that she's 3 1/2, and it means the world to me to see her face light up when I stop in for a visit. I can only hope that other women in my/our position find similar consolation and joy.
What parishes need are not awkward "singles ministries", but solid communities that are not rigidly divided by marital status or age. I'm a stand-in "aunt" to my friend's kids, and couldn't be happier.
