I Did It Again

Angry lady in Bible Study looked angrier than this.
Once again, I went to my Catholic Bible study, mentioned a few inconvenient Truths about God and country, and the liberal lady across the table from me sniped me with her angry eyes and angry tongue. I thought I did something wrong. I was so shocked by her ugly transformation that I almost felt sick in my stomach. Several hours after Bible Study, she was writing me an email and sending me an article of gobbly-goop.

How dare I go into the Big City tomorrow and attend a religious freedom rally! How dare I exercise my free speech, so she can exercise her freedom of religion.

Something about Catholicism draws her in. And something deep inside her makes her very, very angry about Catholicism. That will be her battle to battle. I'm afraid that as long as I keep speaking she'll be unhappy.

And I went to Mass again this morning. It's rather a nice way to start the day. I kind of feel sorry for those who can't go in the morning due to their schedules.

Religious = Higher Wellbeing

In U.S., Very Religious Have Higher Wellbeing Across All Faiths says Gallup.

I'm glad I'm anchored in my faith even if now and then I get angry with God.

A synagogue. I've never been in one.

Upside Down Bowl (Revised)

Today, I was fortunate to go on a field trip to the planetarium with a friend. The best part was the sky show where you sit a reclining seat inside a giant upside down bowl, which is the screen. That way you feel like you are really looking up and around the night sky if you were outside in a rural area. Actually I remember the seats reclining more when I was a in grade school.

Apparently, I have been looking at too many pro-life, reproduction, biology blogs and websites because when I saw the supernova, I thought, "cytoblast." There was one graphic of a galaxy that looked like a placenta.  Another star looked like an eye.

I thought of the golden ratio I learned about in art class. The golden ratio exists in art, our human body, plants, and architecture.

Also, the sky show said that someday our sun will burn out, and our Milky Way Galaxy will collide with another galaxy. Cool! Awesome! And since I have my Catholic faith, I'm not worried about any of those things happening.

We have an awesome universe created by an awesome God, who is a master mathematician and artist.

I brought God, Jesus, and Heaven into a Public School

I work IN a few public schools, but I don't work FOR the public schools. Public schools as a whole have been anti-God lately. I brought an early reader to share with the young students. It was a book from my student days, and there were two chapters about God and Jesus in there. I haven't read the book since I was in second grade myself, so I forgot about the God and Jesus parts. Neither did I look carefully at the book cover where it said Faith and Freedom series.

A first grader read the chapters about God and Jesus. Oops! I could have lost my job because I showed her a book that told about God and Jesus. Well, so far no child has reported me to the authorities or the administration. And if I lost this job over that mistake, I would not care.

You know what happened when she read about God and Jesus??? Nothing. The roof didn't collapse, no one complained.

This week I was reading a book of poems to little students and seven rhymed with heaven. I didn't see that coming. Oopsy daisy!

"What's heaven?" Girl #1 asked.
Now I felt the restriction of my right to free speech.
Uh . . .
"I know what that means," said Girl #2, "it means they're dead, right?"
I nodded my head yes even though there were NO dead characters (animals) in the poem.
"That's what my grandma said. That when people die they go to heaven.," said Girl #3.
"My grandpa died, and he went to heaven my grandma said," stated Boy #1, "I cried when he died. We really miss him."
The children talked about deceased relatives before I drew their attention back to the book of poems.

It's silly to feel like I did a wrong thing about reading a poem with the word heaven in it. Heaven is a good thing. God is good. Heaven is the best thing. I'm glad their parents or grandparents talked to them about heaven.

Mary's Virginity - Why It Lasted Forever

Previously I wrote about the Blessed Mother's perpetual virginity. No one answered my question why is it so important to us that she remained a virgin.

However, if she weren't, then we'd have to change our thinking and opinions and beliefs about Joseph and Mary.

Leila at Little Catholic Bubble explained Mary's virginity. Here's my summary: Joseph knew that Mary was united with the Holy Spirit, and that God was the Father of baby Jesus.

Joseph thought, "Whoa, man! It's like she really IS married to God. I better not mess with Mary! I just better keep my hands to myself and restrict my duties to carrying the heavy pottery and leading the way to Egypt. I don't want to get on God's bad side."

Of course, Joseph helped out Mary in many ways and with the raising of Jesus.

Merry Christmas

Going along with my pastor, Father G., I am still celebrating Christmas because Christmas starts December 25 and ends on the Eiphaney (sp?).

Didn't like your gifts? Don't worry; you can't take them with you anyway. What you can take with you is Jesus and Everlasting Life. Thank God literally for sending His Only Son, through Mary, to earth. If you stick close to Jesus, he'll stick close to you.
